The Crystal River Nuclear Power Plant will shut down for good, and the over 600 employees may or may not find employment with Duke Energy somewhere else. The plant was Citrus County’s biggest employer and taxpayer.

Be careful driving through Pasco County this morning. A brush fire the Starkey Well Field near Moon Lake Estates has smoking affecting the ride along 52.

Big earthquake off the coast of the Solomon Islands triggered a small tsunami this morning. The quake measured 8.0, and send five foot waves onto the island damaging some homes. The tsunami warning has been lifted.

There’s a new four-legged security at TIA. The new K-9 pilot program is being used in Terminal E and where you leave the Trams to go through the security line. Only Tampa and Indianapolis are trying the program out.
