Gun Bounty Program, More Dollars For Education

St Pete Police, along with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s office kicked off a new project yesterday to get guns off their streets. The Gun Bounty Program will allow anyone to drop by St. Pete police headquarters every Saturday in February from 10 am until 6 pm, drop off those unwanted guns and ask any questions they might have.

Gov. Rick Scott presented his $74.2 billion budget proposal yesterday, one of the largest in the state’s history which included $1.2 billion for education programs. It’s not an official until approved by the state legislature.

So what came out of the Pinellas County Commission meeting with the Rays yesterday? Rays President Matt Silverman said they’ll take a look at the new stadium plans in Pinellas for a specific amount of time, but then they also want permission to look at the Hillsborough plan.

It’s Super Bowl weekend, with the 49’ers the favorite to win in New Orleans. Beyoncé admitted at a press conference yesterday that her Inauguration performance was lip synched, but the half time show Sunday will be live. Before the game, Jennifer Hudson will join the chorus from Sandy Hook Elementary School to sing "America the Beautiful.”
