At last night’s St Pete Beach City Commission, the commission gave its approval to a plan to disband the city’s police force and contract with Pinellas County Sherriff. That will go to a city wide vote on November 6^th.

Channelside has lost another tenant, with Channelside Cinemas closing last night. They are already in bankruptcy court and follow other business closings like Howl At The Moon and Stumps Supper Club.

The attorney for the off-duty security guard under the “Stand Your Ground” law in the shooting of Brandon Baker says his client just want to move on with his life. Seth Browning shot and killed Baker after he said he saw the Palm Harbor man driving erratically and pulled him over. Browning told police the situation got out of hand and he shot Baker in fear of his own life.

It’s now down to two in the race for Hillsborough County Attorney; Chip Fletcher and Jim Porter go to the final round to succeed former Hillsborough Attorney Renee Lee.
