Rays lose another game against Boston 7-5, the seventh loss in eight games. But, the Rays David Price has been nominated for the Roberto Clemente award; he’s one of 30 finalists for the award which recognizes a player for their positive contributions on and off the field.

The shuttle Endeavour, on top of a 747, is set for a sunrise departure this morning around 7:15. NASA said weather delayed the trip from the Cape to Houston on Monday.

John McCain made a stop at the University of Florida yesterday, campaigning in support of Mitt Romney. The Veterans for Romney bus tour had scheduled stops in Orlando and Jacksonville as well. Tomorrow, the President comes to Tampa for a private fundraiser, and Mitt Romney will be in Sarasota for a Rally at the Ringling Art Museum.

A student at Clearwater High School was arrested yesterday for bringing a gun to school. Another student told the school’s resource officer about the gun, and the student will now be charged with a felony for carrying a concealed gun on school grounds, disruption of school and a probation violation, since he was already on probation for a petty theft charge.

No Tampa layoffs were mentioned, but American Airlines has announced they will lay off over 1,400 employees in Florida. Most of those layoffs will be in Miami, and nationwide over 11,000 in the wake of labor showdowns and cancellations.

Would free parking when you spend at least $20 bring you back to Baywalk? That’s the proposed deal from owner Bill Edwards. St Pete City council will vote this morning on the issue to give Baywalk a year of free parking in the city owned Mid-Core Garage. The delayed reopening of the renamed Shops of St Pete may now into late 2013 or early 2014.
