An attack on the U.S. consulate in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi by protesters has left four Americans dead, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens.

After protestors attacked the US Consulate in Benghazi and Ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens was killed along with three other consulate employees. The US has deployed two warships to Libya. Both carry Tomahawk missiles, but officials say they have no specific mission but can should be the president issue any official orders.

The Tampa Bay Times is reporting Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn has decided to leave the security cameras from the RNC right where they are, possibly moving some into high crime areas. Those 60 cameras were bought with a sixty million dollar federal grant.

Vice Presidential nominee Paul Ryan comes to Oldsmar Saturday for a rally with doors opening at 9:00 am in Olds Park, and the rally getting underway at 11. For tickets, go to the Romney website at http://mi.tt/SFtToh. If you’re going, the usual security precautions will be in place.

The lawyer for the owner of Royal Palms cemetery says his client did nothing to warrant being shot by Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Daniel Cole. Trooper Cole told the FDLE, who is investigating the shooting that he was tracking a LoJack signal when he found Clifford Work of Tampa in a garage at the back of the cemetery and that Work was armed. Work has a concealed weapons permit, and Trooper Cole has a history of violent confrontations.

The Rays lose another one to Baltimore 3-2; that takes them three games behind the league leading Yankees and Baltimore. The next series is in New York then back here next week for games with Boston and Toronto.

Summer officially exits in less than two weeks, and we’re about to set a record for one of the wettest on record thanks to tropical systems dumping 31 inches of rain so far on the Bay area. Debbie and Isaac also helped to make it the fourth wettest August on record.
