There will be many 9-11 memorial ceremonies on both sides of the Bay today. One will be at 10 am, at Curlew Hills Memory Gardens in Palm Harbor, where a monument made from a 150-pound steel beam from the World Trade Center towers will be unveiled, along with a Coast Guard flyover. In Tampa, Mayor Bob Buckhorn will be at the Tampa Firefighters Museum on Zack Street along with members of Tampa Fire Rescue and the Tampa Police Department at 9:40 am

 A Florida Highway Patrol Trooper was involved in a shooting early yesterday before 6 am on Gandy Boulevard near 275 at the Royal Palms Cemetery, in Pinellas County. Trooper Daniel Cole was not injured, and condition of a suspect, is listed as non-life threatening.

Governor Rick Scott will bring his education listening tour to Pinellas County this week, but a lot of educators aren’t too happy that its invitation only. It’s a private tour, but it will be held in public school. The public and the media are not on the invite list.

This weekend it was announced that Mitt Romney would be coming to Oldsmar for a public rally at 8 pm, but now it might be Ann Romney making the trip. It happens to be the same day former President Bill Clinton is expected to campaign for President Barack Obama in Orlando.

It’s an important road trip for the Rays as they start a three game series against the Orioles tonight in Baltimore; after that, it’s the Yankees in New York. They come back to the Trop a week from today for games with Boston and Torono.
