The Bucs open their season against Carolina Saturday afternoon at Ray Jay; game time is 4:15 pm and tickets sales weren’t strong enough, the game is blacked out. The Rays are at home in the Trop for a weekend series with Texas; game time tonight is 7:10

President Obama will be in town tomorrow, scheduled to speak at the Seminole Campus of St Pete College at Natural Habitat Field. And former Florida Governor Charlie Crist has decided to join the President on the trip for stops in both St Pete and Kissimmee. Former President Bill Clinton has also announced plans to campaign for the President in Florida next week.

A crash between a school bus and a car in Gibsonton yesterday killed the driver of the car, and injured a passenger. Police believe the car pulled out in front of the bus; no students were on the bus and there were no injuries to the bus driver.

Yesterday’s heavy rains brought flooding to parts of the Bay area, especially south Tampa, with the possibility of more rains expected over the weekend thanks to what are the remnants of Hurricane Isaac out in the Gulf. Hurricanes Leslie and Michael are out in the Atlantic and no threat to lane.

The nation says goodbye to the first man to walk on the moon with a service at Washington National Cathedral next Thursday; the service for Neil Armstrong will be streamed live through the NASA television, as well as the space agency and cathedral’s web sites.
