That fire last week at St. Petersburg High School caused around a million dollar’s worth of smoke and water damage, but the school reopens this morning. The fire started in the school’s auditorium, causing extensive damage to the sound and lighting control booth. The Tampa Bay Times reports the fire is under investigation.

The Democratic National Convention is underway in Charlotte. Today’s session will feature San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro, the first Latino ever to deliver the main address at the Democratic Convention delivering the keynote address at 10 pm, followed by First Lady Michelle Obama.

Clearwater police finally arrested a motorcyclist clocked at nearly 122 mph; Elvin Moreno from Valrico was thrown from the bike after crashing on Clearwater Beach on Labor Day. He was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, where his injuries are described as not life threatening according to Clearwater police.
