Hurricane Sandy’s numbers keep adding up; the historic superstorm leaves at least 40 dead, many killed by falling trees and eight million without power. Conservative estimates on damage stand at 20 billion dollars. Utility crews from the Bay area are helping with disaster recovery. The Stock Exchange will reopen today.

Robin Walbridge, the captain of the HMS Bounty, , which was headed to St Pete for a November 10th remains missing after the ship sank south of Cape Hatteras trying to outrun Hurricane Sandy. The Coast Guard had rescued 14 crew members earlier, and recovered another’s body yesterday.

Early voting continues through Saturday; remember to bring a photo ID with you, and they are allowing you to bring a sample ballot along that you can fill out in advance. That will help a lot since the ballot is so long.

Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney arrived in Tampa yesterday will hold an airport rally in Tampa this morning at the Landmark Aviation terminal on Westshore Blvd, near Tampa International Airport. Doors will open at 8:45 am, and the rally will begin at 10:45 am. Tickets are available at www.mittromney.com/FL. U.S. Senate candidate Connie Mack will be with Romney at the rally.

Organizers of the NYC Marathon say they’re going try and pull off Sunday’s scheduled run. The 26.2-mile route through the five boroughs does avoid most of the areas hit hardest by flooding. Almost 50,000 runners were supposed to participate.

Ray’s Pitcher Jeremy Hellickson wins the Golden Glove Award, sharing the honor with the Cub’s Jake Peavy. The Rays also announced pitcher James Shields and catcher Jose Molina will have their options picked up.
