The City of St Pete is threating to sue any Hillsborough County official who even talks about a new home for the Rays on that side of the Bay. City Attorney John Wolfe notified attorneys for Hillsborough County in a letter sent to them; the Rays current contract with the city forbids the team from playing anywhere but the Trop through 2027.

The Detroit Tigers sweep the Yankees and head off to the World Series. Delmon Young, the Tigers DH gets the MVP nod. In the NLCS, the wild-card Cardinals beat the Giants and can take it all with a win tonight. If the defending World Series champs do win, the series with Detroit would be a rematch of 2006.

Eleven Florida counties were officially designated as disaster areas by President Obama yesterday by damages caused by Tropical Storm Isaac. That opens the door for federal funds to be released to local and state governments. FEMA Director Craig Fugate had originally said that the damage caused was not enough to warrant federal funds and that the state could handle the costs, but Governor Scott appealed that decision.

Those sign-waivers you see on the side of the roads for many St Pete businesses are still in business for now. There was a proposed ordinance that would have banned them, but City Council will take another look at the language and talk about it in two weeks. The ordinance is supposed to regulate commercial signage.

It’s the Bucs and the Saints Sunday, 1 pm at Ray Jay, and its Throwback Sunday with the Bucs back in the creamsicle colored uniforms. The team sold enough tickets so the game will be broadcast locally.
