Sam Gibbons dies at 92

Sam Gibbons has died at the age of 92. In addition to his many years of political service, he was responsible for sponsoring the bill that started the University of South Florida; helping to start the Southwest Florida Water Management District; and getting votes together for the country's first Head Start program.

Florida Fish and Wildlife officers continue their search for the monkey that attacked St Pete woman without provocation yesterday.  They’re setting traps to try and catch the elusive monkey and they ask if you see it to just leave it alone. The concern is the monkey could possibly have simian herpes or hepatitis

A couple of seniors at Wharton High School brought some treats to school, but school officials busted them for containing pot; the brownies and cookies were taken and both kids are charged with possession and delivery of marijuana on school grounds and have been taken to the juvenile assessment center.

The evidence against former seven time Tour De France winner Lance Armstrong appears to be overwhelming in the doping case by the US Doping Agency; 26 accusers have come forward, many former teammates, and the agency has over pages of testimony. Armstrong has said he would not fight the agency's charges, but insists he never cheated

The New England Compounding Center, the company that produced the contaminated steroid shots has recalled all products. Health officials confirmed the first Florida death linked to that meningitis outbreak earlier this week. The Florida Department of Health says a 70-year-old man died in July, before the discovery of the contaminated steroid medication. There are a total of six reported cases in Florida. Nationally the outbreak has reached 137cases, including 11 deaths.

The two vice presidential nominees will debate to night at Center College in Danville, Kentucky. Martha Radditz from ABC News will moderate.
