Tragedy In Mobile Home Fire

Three year old twins from New Port Richey died and their mother was burned in a fire at their mobile home Monday. Rescuers were not able to reach Micah and Miah Shaver. Authorities believe the fire started in a back bedroom, and the State Fire Marshall will investigate.

Senator Bill Nelson says he was surprised by the news of the affair and ensuing scandal involving former CIA Director General David Petraeus and his biographer, Paula Broadwell. An initial hearing will be held today, but the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence will hold a full hearing Thursday. Senator Nelson sits on that committee.

Cameron Bosley has been charged with DUI manslaughter in the accident that took the life of Michael Granziano. Neither was wearing a seatbelt when they slammed into the back of a dump track last April on Ulmerton and 19. His father Ed Graziano had been arrested after trying to hire a hit man to kill his estranged wife; his brother John suffered permanent brain damage when Hulk Hogan’s son Nick Bollea crashed his car into a palm tree.

A lineman from Lakeland Electric was attacked while helping to restore power in East Hempstead. John Applewhite was with coworkers when a man drove by yelling at the group, who then got out of the car and slugged Applewhite, breaking his jaw and cheekbone. At this point they do not have anyone in custody and Applewhite has returned to the Bay area for treatment.

There’s a new coalition forming that is calling for the extension of early voting days in Florida, led by the AFL-CIO. Secretary of State Ken Detzner says he doesn’t feel a need for major changes at this point.

The town of Bellair has found itself four million dollars richer, thanks to a gift from the estate of a man who was described and quiet and who kept to himself. Most residents were more than surprised to learn John Osborne was apparently a millionaire who left everything he had to the town. Recommendations are being considered from the town’s manager and commission on how best to use the money.
