It Only Takes One

Landfall
Are you ready?

Previous Posts

Hurricane season officially begins tomorrow and according to the National Hurricane center, it’s been 2,411 days since a hurricane made landfall in Florida. Beryl came close to ending that streak last weekend, with winds approaching hurricane strength when she came onshore in Jacksonville. The last one that did make it here was Wilma in 2005, making landfall in Naples. My strongest memory has to be the 2004 season of Charley, Frances, Ivan and Jeanne, and particularly Charley. We evacuated the station and did our shows from the Hillsborough County Emergency Operations Center. I’ll admit it, I was scared to death that Charley was the one. That last minute turn that took in down to Ft Myers was unexpected, and only proves the unpredictability of these storms. So please make sure you’re prepared. As they say, it only takes one. How have you prepared yourself and the family? Tell me all about it ann.kelly@coxmg.com.
