Juanita Baker received the best Father’s Day news she could imagine; her own father was fine, after his ultra light aircraft went down shortly after takeoff from Tiera Verde. Rodney Tyoe and a passenger were pulled from the water after the plane was thrown around by winds gusts near the Skyway. The amazing part of the story is thanks to another Dad on vacation from Virginia, who was part of his second rescue. Gus Hertz was fishing off the Skyway and knew the winds were a little strong and saw the plane was in trouble. He pulled both pilot and passenger into his boat, and got them onshore for rescuers. Then he called his wife and two children to tell them what he had done on his summer vacation…again. That’s a hero, and a Dad. Happy Father’s Day.
