USF has fired football coach Skip Holtz after this season wrapped up at 3-9, the worst in the team’s history and after two straight losing seasons. Holtz had been with USF for three years and was given a contract extension into 2017 just last year; that means he’ll receive a $2.5 million dollar buyout paid out over the next five years.

A shooting at a Lakeland farmer’s market over the weekend has five teens facing attempted murder charges. A 79 year old worker there refused the sell the group a gun, who then left returned later smashing a showcase and shooting the man. He’s listed in stable condition at Lakeland Regional Hospital.

City Council in St Pete will move ahead on the new design for the Pier this week, with the approval of a $5 million dollar contract. The project, called “The Lens” is set at an estimate $50 million overall.

St Pete Police are looking for whoever set the Gallagher Christmas tree lot on fire Sunday morning. The Gallagher’s have been selling the trees on 4th St North for almost 24 years and will have to replace all those trees out of their own pockets. But new inventory is on the way.

A New Port Richey man fell over forty feet off a ramp at the ACC Championship game Saturday night in Charlotte at Bank of America Stadium. Sean Powers slipped over a railing, after leaning back to take a photo, and is listed in critical condition.

The Bucs lost to the Broncos in Mile High Stadium yesterday 31-23. The Broncos take the AFC West title with the win.
