An amazing story from the London Olympics;  American sprinter Manteo Mitchell had half a lap to go in the first leg of the 4x400-meter relay preliminaries Thursday and felt a pop in his left leg. He actually finished the lap and then went off to the side of the track to watch the rest of the team finish the race and qualify for the final. The doctors took and look and it turns out he had run the last 200 meters with a broken left leg.

A four year old Palm Harbor boy was rescued from the bottom of the Cypress Pond Apartments pool and literally brought back to life is now home, thanks to the life-saving efforts of two deputies who say they were just doing their jobs. Deputy Regina Tsanakaliotis and Corporal James Piper were already on site, trying to serve a warrant when they heard the call about a drowning. Camden Gagnon was released from All Children’s Hospital yesterday.

The city of St Pete and Tampa are all set with who’s getting what when it comes to security money for  the upcoming RNC; Tampa has the $50 million dollar federal grant to cover security, and they’ve agreed to reimburse St Pete for what is spent on security for the kickoff party on the Trop.
