Italy Beat Germany in the Hopman Cup

Italy fought back from losing the opening rubber to beat Germany 2-1 in the Hopman Cup in Perth on Wednesday (January 2). The pairing of Francesca Schiavone and Andreas Seppi combined in the mixed doubles to defeat Tatjana Malek and Tommy Haas in straight sets 6-4 7-5. The win was Italy's first after losing to top seeds Serbia on Monday while Germany's second consecutive loss means it is impossible for them to qualify for Saturday's final.
