The city of Orlando will be holding a community vigil and candle lighting tonight to honor those injured and killed at the Pulse nightclub terror attack.
“The spirit of this event is in its purest form is a gathering of friends who want to not only mourn the loss of 49 amazing souls but to also send on very vivid pulse of love and unity,” the city writes on a promotional flyer for the event.
“We ask that you keep in mind that this is not a religious, political or brand powered vigil,” they add.
Music is slotted to begin around the lake at 6p.m. with speakers beginning at 7:15p.m.
The silent vigil, which more than 20,000 people are expected to attend, is scheduled to be held at 8:20p.m.
The City Beautiful will begin shutting down roads around Lake Eola at 3p.m. in preparation for the event and will keep them closed until 11p.m.
Lynx and SunRail are stepping up to make sure everyone that wants to attend the vigil will be able to by modifying schedules and adding extra stops around Lake Eola.
