Before You Tie the Knot is a premarital/newlywed education program designed to offer constructive guidance to couples as they begin their lives as a married couple. These workshops will guide you through the process of creating a great marriage. It will help you to make choices and decisions about how you can make your marriage a happy, lasting one. Before You Tie the Knot covers the following topics: The 8 Needs of Every Partner, Parent, and Child Positive Parenting The 9 Communication Skills Can We Argue? Can We Talk? Your Money Matters Healthy Lifestyles This class meets for 3 weeks on Wednesday: July 10, 17, & 24.
Upon completion of this course, you will receive a certificate of completion, in addition to a discount of $32.50 off your marriage license and a waiver of the three-day waiting period. You will also receive a copy of the certificate for you to take to the Clerk of the Court. These Before You Tie the Knot workshops, offered through the Extension office, fulfill the requirements of Florida Statue 741, Marriage Preparation and Preservation Act. They have been approved by the Circuit Court of Duval County.
