Description:
Turkey is a country of vast historical and modern significance, with a cultural and historical heritage that has shaped the country into a democratic, secular, unitary, and constitutional republic. This 10-day course in early May will give students an appreciation of the role of geography, religion and history in the shaping of the country that we know today. The program will take participants to well-known sites including the Grand Bazaar, Topkapi Palace, Suleymaniye Mosque and more. Students will travel to Troy, exploring WWII battlefields on the Gallipoli peninsula, the Anzac Cemetery, and St. Sophia Church. Three undergraduate credits in international studies and political science are offered, focusing on Turkish politics and foreign policies. Learn more about this great program and meet with program faculty at the information session.
