World renowned singer, songwriter and composer Gino Vannelli brings his latest tour to the Capitol Theatre in downtown Clearwater's Cleveland Street District!

World renowned singer, songwriter and composer Gino Vannelli brings his latest tour to the Capitol Theatre in downtown Clearwater's Cleveland Street District on Saturday, January26 at 7:30 pm. Tickets go on sale Saturday, November10 at noon at the Ruth Eckerd Hall Ticket Office.

Born in Montreal, Gino Vannelli studied music at McGill University. After a stint in New York City, Vannelli and his brothers went to Los Angeles, where they were signed by Herb Albert/A&M Records. In 1974, People Gotta Move made it to #22 on the Billboard Top 100 and in 1978, the song I Just Wanna Stop earned Gino a GRAMMY® Award nomination and was a number #1 single in Canada (top 5 in the United States). Vannelli's album Brother To Brother was certified platinum in early 1979. Gino won Canada's Juno Award for Best Male Artist in 1976 and 1979. Additional recordings of the 1970s include: Crazy Life, Powerful People, Storm at Sunup, The Gist of the Gemini and A Pauper in Paradise. In April 1981, Living Inside Myself peaked on Billboard's Top 100 at #6. The prestigious Juno Award was once again shared by the Vannelli brothers in 1986 for Black Cars and in 1987 forWild Horses/Young Lover. Gino's additional recordings of the 1980s include: Nightwalker and Big Dreamers Never Sleep. In 1990, Inconsolable Man received excellent reviews; the Vannelli brothers shared the Juno Award for the albumsThe Time of Day and Sunset on L.A.On Vannelli's CD Yonder Tree, he pays homage to his roots in jazz; additional recordings of the 1990s include: Live in Montreal and Slow Love.

With his recordings These Are The Days and Canto, Vannelli surprised the world by revealing his operatic voice. He was commissioned by the Vatican to perform for Pope John Paul II. Gino's 2010 releaseThe Best And Beyond contains reworkings of his Top Ten hits which catapulted him to the world stage. Reserved tickets priced at $75.00 (which includes a meet & greet with Gino Vannelli) and $56.00 will be available at the Ruth Eckerd Hall Ticket Office located at 1111 McMullen Booth Road in Clearwater, by calling 727.791.7400 or by logging onto www.atthecap.com. The Ruth Eckerd Hall Ticket Office is open Monday through Saturday, from noon to 6 pm. The Capitol Theatre Ticket Office opens one hour prior to showtime.
