Blaming his mother for the death of his older brother, a recently expelled high school student fabricates an illicit sex tape in an attempt to destroy his mother’s relationship with her dear friend Lou, a gay Gulf War vet. The latest play by Kerry Glamsch, The Furbearers touches on a cultural context of mediation, the easy manipulation of information and self-image, and the inhumanity of a society enthralled by public exposure of self and others. Currently a professor of Theatre at the University of Tampa Glamsch joined Actor’s Equity in 1984, was a Michener fellow at University of Texas at Austin (MFA in Creative Writing), a Fulbright scholar at University of Craiova, a professor of Theatre at USF from 2003-2010, and has taught acting workshops in Bali, Tanzania, New Zealand and Romania.
