Gorilla Challenge is a race that will test your power with hidden clues around town, put your body to the test with crazy obstacles, and give you a reason to be a Gorilla by supporting local charities. We’re an Amazing Race/Fear Factor style event, quickly becoming the largest outdoor pursuit experience in the nation sending hundreds of Gorillas around their city looking for clues with excitement for a chance to win awesome prizes and compete in a zany costume contest. Beyond the adventure, Gorillas engage local charity and community organizations through portions of the Challenge, and several of our clues are socially responsible, bringing awareness to local issues such as literacy, poverty, environmental concerns, animal welfare, senior care, and much more. We can have fun AND do something good as well! We welcome people of all ages to become Gorilla’s (with the exception of Goa’uld, members of the Dark Side, Borg’s, and Zombies), AND our events are handicap accessible. HERE’S HOW IT WORKS: After the MC provides instructions, you’re given your first set of clues that point in different directions within a 3 to 5 mile radius. Once you get to a location, you’ll find an additional slip with instructions on what to do next with your camera. It could be anything ranging from taking a simple picture with the object, singing for someone, putting together a mini-puzzle, dipping your hand in something disgusting to look for a clue or just making funny faces. You receive your second set of clues at a random clue (not so random for us) by one of our staffers. You’ll have as much time as you need to complete 10 out of the 12 clues, with a few of the clues being challenges. Once you’ve completed your 10, you head back to the start location to win the finishing prize, redeem a ticket, or get a nice pat on the back and enjoy the live entertainment (in select cities) and food and beverage specials! WILDCARD: If you see any of our staffers in a Gorilla outfit running around downtown, chase them as fast as possible! They’ve got prizes to give away to any team that can catch them. Please don’t maul, tackle, jump on, or run them over. PRIZES? SAY WHAT? First place = $300 for the team Second place = $200 for the team Third place = $100 for the team Best costume = $50 Runner-up = $25 Food Drive Challenge = $100 ______________________________________________________________ Did you know Tampa was rated as one of the fifth best outdoor city in America? Good thing there will be lots of outdoor activities to enjoy Tampa at its best! We’re also supporting Tampa Bay Harvest! They pick up leftover, sale dated and excess food items from local supermarkets, hospitals, schools, restaurants, as well as other food related businesses, and deliver the rescued food to one of the more than 200 local area charities served by Tampa Bay Harvest who, in turn, feed the hungry. We’ll also be giving away a cash prize to the team who brings the MOST non-perishable items to the event for Tampa bay Harvest!
